Antarctic Observatory for the Study of Microbial Communities in Soils and Rocks

Online data

The stations from which data can be downloaded are four, positioned in Southern Victoria Land, south of the David Glacier. The stations are installed on sandstone outcrops and record data related to air, rock, and soil. Each station is equipped with 11 sensors that record micro and macroclimatic data, such as: rock temperature (with sensors positioned a few millimeters below the surface), air temperature, soil temperature, solar radiation and PAR, soil moisture, relative air humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind speed and direction, and gust speed. The recording of the first data dates back to December 2019. Data are recorded and transmitted continuously through a satellite transmission system powered by a solar panel.
