Antarctic Observatory for the Study of Microbial Communities in Soils and Rocks

Data Access

The Observatory holds a vast wealth of data, collected both through automatic instrumentation and through the work and observations conducted by the project team during many scientific expeditions. Making these data accessible to the scientific community is one of the main tasks of the Observatory.
Since 2019, a micro and macroclimatic database has been created, which feeds the graphs visible on this website. The data, collected from the four stations located in South Victoria Land, south of the David Glacier, and transmitted via satellite, can be freely downloaded from this site provided that the Observatory's authorship is acknowledged and cited appropriately.
Additional biological data related to the study area are reported in papers published in accredited scientific journals and can be requested from the PI of the Observatory, Laura Zucconi, by writing to zucconi@unitus.it.

Whenever these data are used, it is recommended to include the following acknowledgment: "Climatic data and information were provided by the Antarctic Observatory for the study of Microbial Communities in Soils and Rocks (AMICO) https://www.antarcticamico.it/dataaccess/index.php?lang=en of the Italian Antarctic Research Program (PNRA)."

Please notify the following address zucconi@unitus.it for any publication/communication where these data are used.

Studies on climatic data and microbial communities of rocks and soils from these sites are ongoing, and proposals for collaborations are always welcome.
